What is the Wharton NYC Express service?
Wharton NYC Express is a premium van ride service between Rittenhouse Square (Philadelphia) and Midtown Manhattan (W 31st & 8th Ave). It’s designed for convenience, reliability, and style—perfect for starting your weekend without delays or last-minute flake risk. It was born of necessity; MBAs needing to get to the city conveniently, safely, with friends or in peace. It is not directly affiliated with a university program, but is the result of the Wharton MBA network.
How much does a one-way trip cost, and are there discounts available?
One-way tickets are $99. There is a 10% discount if you ride with a friend and use code "FRIEND". Please include your name and your friends name in the payment Name/Class line. After your first three rides, you unlock subscription discounts and promotional offers. U.S. & Allied Veterans receive a 10% discount using the promo code "HOORAH".
How does Wharton NYC Express compare to Amtrak, Uber, and other options?
Wharton NYC Express offers a set price, reliable seating, and a comfortable, premium ride without the uncertainty of public transit or rideshare costs.
Amtrak can cost $70–$160 one-way, plus $10–$15 for an Uber to 30th Street Station, and often comes with delays and crowded seating. Uber to NYC averages $230 for a regular car and $370–$440 for XL—but that's before ever present surge pricing is factored in. An Uber Black is even more costly and inconsistent.
Why does nobody car pool or uberpool? Aside from not having cars, most students' plans change constantly. Flake risk is real!
How do I report a lost item?
If you left something in the van, contact our customer support immediately via WhatsApp with a description of the item, the date of your ride, and your seat location if possible. While we are not liable for lost items, we will do our best to locate and retrieve the item.
Where can I make a complaint?
You can send feedback or complaints directly to our customer support via Whatsapp. While we strive for the utmost professionalism, report any concerns or unsafe conditions immediately!
When and how often do the vans run between Rittenhouse Square and Midtown Manhattan?
We operate weekly rides every Thursday night or Friday morning. We are also piloting return trips from NYC.
Currently, the evening shuttle leaves at 5:30 PM and the morning shuttle leaves at 8:30 AM. Student feedback will help guide future ride times.
How do I pay?
We use Stripe, a secure and widely recognized payments checkout method. Stripe allows you to enter discount codes. You pay in advance of your ride.
What is the baggage policy?
Each rider may bring one small airplane-style carry-on bag. Certain rides can be set up to bring more bags in a follow-on vehicle at an extra cost. This is not our main offering, but please communicate around school breaks etc.
Who are your partners and drivers?
We partner with insured, reputable transportation providers and experienced, professional drivers to ensure a safe, comfortable, and reliable experience.
Are you operated by a university or student club?
We are not. We operate as a for-profit business independently, but our affiliation is the network of Wharton MBA students.
Can I join?
We are always looking out for talent and cooperation. Reach out if you're interested in joining the team. Please provide specific roles or areas of expertise.
How do I reserve a seat, and when is the pre-sale deadline?

What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Cancellations made before Wednesday at 8:00 AM of the week’s ride, via customer support on Whatsapp, are eligible to receive a refund. After that time, no refunds are given. Missed vans or late cancellations are non-refundable. If Wharton NYC Express cancels the trip, you will receive a full refund.
What is the minimum number of riders needed for a trip to run?
Trips run with at least 9 riders. If there are 6 riders, we plan to provide an alternate premium vehicle with no extra cost to you. If we need to cancel the trip, you receive a full refund.
What happens if the trip is canceled by Wharton NYC Express?
You will receive a full refund for any trip we cancel.
What are the safety and liability terms for riders?
By signing up and riding, you acknowledge the inherent risks of motor transportation. You agree not to hold Wharton NYC Express, Eagle Entertainment (its owner) or partners liable for any damage, injury, delays, missed events, theft, driver behavior, lack of insurance, claims, or tragic loss of life.
